LED Lamp and Tungsten Lamp
LED Lamp and Tungsten Lamp
A LED (light-emitting diode) is a two-lead semiconductor light source. It is a p–n junction diode, which emits light when activated. When a suitable voltage is applied to the leads, electrons are able to recombine with electron holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence, and the color of the light (corresponding to the energy of the photon) is determined by the energy band gap of the semiconductor. Tungsten lamp is used as the filament in incandescent light bulbs, which can produce a continuous spectrum for 400 ~ 780nm visible region of the spectrum. It is used as a visible light source in a spectrophotometer. The spectral effective region may extend to the 3μm, so it is also used as a light source in the near infrared region.
LED Lamp and Tungsten Lamp Differences
1. Durability of LED lamp is because of its light-emitting principle, its luminous process is not accompanied by a lot of heat, which can greatly extent life time. The light from incandescent light bulbs is tungsten filament itself,so durability depends on the common data and its average.
2. The LED is mainly relying on the wafer, the quality of wafer depends on lamp life time. Tungsten lamp bulb life depends mainly on the quality of tungsten filament.
3. The fundamental principles of LED lamp is an electronic energy transition. The middle section of tungsten lamp is tungsten filament, when the current pass the filament, tungsten filament would be heating and activate the gas to glow.
