Lanthanated Tungsten Electrode

lanthanated tungsten electrode

Introduction

Lanthanated tungsten electrode contains lanthanum oxide that slightly soluble in water and easily to dissolve in acid, and then generate the corresponding salts. If it is placed in the air, it absorbs carbon dioxide and water of air, gradually become lanthanum carbonate. Burning lanthanum oxide and water will release a lot of heat. This type of electrode is mainly to improve the radioactive damage caused by thoriated tungsten electrode.

Trademark

Lanthanum tungsten electrode is an alloy electrode, adding lanthanum oxide. Therefore, according to the content of thorium oxide electrode, it can be divided into three kinds of different grades: 1.0%lanthanum oxide is WL10, 1.5%lanthanum oxide is WL15, and 2.0% is WL20.

Trademark Additives Other Impurities% W% Color
Type Content%
WL10 La2O3 0.8-1.2 <0.20 Margin Black
WL15 La2O3 1.3-1.7 <0.20 Margin Golden Yellow
WL20 La2O3 1.8--2.2 <0.20 Margin Sky Blue

Characteristic

Lanthanum oxide can further improve the welding performance. Lanthanated tungsten electrode can effectively prevent thermal shock. That is, when the metal material is subjected to a rapid heating and cooling, there is a big difference of temperature in its internal organization, resulting in a strong impact thermal stress. Secondly, in a short period of welding, if the ignition is repeated, then lanthanated tungsten electrode can still maintain good functioning ability. The most important point is that, during the welding of the pipeline, it does not produce any radioactive elements, which can avoid environmental pollution, and does not damage to human health. In addition, Lanthanated tungsten electrodes have a good mechanical cutting performance.

Application

Lanthanum tungsten electrode has a high recrystallization temperature and good ductility, so it is widely used in DC welding. Because there is no radiological hazard, welders can change nothing about operating procedures, many countries have used lanthanated tungsten electrode to replace thorium tungsten electrode. In addition, this electrode is also suitable for AC welding.

Other Parameter

The standard of lanthanum tungsten electrode is ISO6848, ANSI / AWS, A5.12 / A5.12M-98. Diameter generally is between 0.5-25mm and its length includes 150mm, 175mm, 178mm. Of course, its size can be customized based on user's needs.
