WT20 Thoriated Tungsten Electrode

Introduction

According to 2% thoriated oxide content, the type is classified as WT20 of thoriated tungsten electrode. It is a metal bar with silver-white, and its tip is red. Compared to other types of electrodes, the ratio of thoriated tungsten electrode in the domestic market is the largest. Thoriated oxide content of 2% (WT20) thoriated tungsten electrode has a better operating performance than other thoriated tungsten electrode.

Charateristic

Current-carrying capability of thorium tungsten electrode WT20 IS stronger than pure tungsten electrode, it is about 20 percent. In addition, it has a low work function, so that it can reduce pollution caused by welding. On the other hand, the WT20 electrode is easy to arc and a more stable arc.

Application

Because of the excellent characteristics of tungsten, the thoriated tungsten electrode WT20 is very suitable used in TIG welding, or similar electrode material. However, in the use of thorium-tungsten electrode, it should be grounded and cut. If used improperly, it can cause arcing drift, and split, resulting in consuming more money. What’s more, there is a certain risk. Add rare earth oxide in tungsten metal, which can stimulate the electron work function, thereby improving its welding performance.
