Pure Tungsten Electrode
Introduction
A pure tungsten electrode is a long rod-type electrode with silver-white metallic luster, and the green electrode tip is a distinctive feature of it. The tungsten content is higher than 99.95%, which is the highest content of all the tungsten electrodes and without any alloying elements. Because of the high content of tungsten, it is hard to arc and maintain the stability of the arc beam. China is one of the largest countries of tungsten resources in the world, so every year the total output of tungsten electrodes ranks in the top of the world, and with the increasing demand for tungsten electrodes, the product has considerable development prospects in China.
Appplications
Pure tungsten electrode is mainly widely used in AC welding. The welding of aluminum and magnesium alloys is to use this type of electrode in alternating current. In addition, it can make the solder ball deform under heating, so that it would become the shape of tip. The tip shape can promote the stability of the AC welding arc. For the alternating current used for welding aluminum and magnesium, the type of electrodes can provide a better stability. While using pure tungsten electrode, users should pay special attention to the fact that it cannot used in DC welding.
Charateristics
High content of tungsten make it has a high work function, which is 4.5eV. This will cause the electrode tips easily to warm up, and promote the growth of crystal grains. Other impurity content is less than 0.20%, the tungsten content is more than 99.5%. Pure tungsten electrode has a small vapor pressure and thermal expansion coefficient and low resistance. But it also has a good electrical conductivity property. Although pure tungsten electrode has a high melting point and boiling point, difficult to melt, evaporate and burn, its electron emission capability is the worst, the arc combustion stability is not enough, and anti-pollution performance is relatively weak.
