Storage and Maintenance of Tungsten Needle
Proper storage and maintenance of tungsten needle are essential to preserve its performance and reliability. Tungsten needle is a refractory metal component with a high melting point (~3410°C), high hardness, and brittleness. Its performance is highly sensitive to surface condition, tip geometry, and operating environment. In applications such as semiconductor manufacturing, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), and Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG), tungsten needle typically operates under high temperature, high electric field, or protective atmospheres, requiring strict control of cleanliness and geometric consistency.

Improper storage or maintenance may lead to surface contamination, oxidation, recrystallization, or tip deformation, resulting in unstable discharge, arc deviation, and reduced service life. Therefore, systematic control of storage and maintenance is essential. The following guidelines for the storage and maintenance of tungsten needle are summarized by CTIA based on years of manufacturing and customer service experience.
