What's Tungsten Crucible?
Tungsten crucible is a high-temperature refractory container fabricated from tungsten material (purity ≥99.95%). It is utilized for high-temperature melting, evaporation, crystal growth, and material synthesis within vacuum or inert gas environments, serving primarily as a containment and reaction vessel for high-purity metals, oxides, and functional materials.
The advantages of tungsten crucible are excellent high-temperature stability, minimal material contamination, strong thermal shock resistance, and long service life. Even under thermal cycling or prolonged high-temperature holding conditions, tungsten crucible maintains dimensional stability and uniform thermal fields, improving process repeatability and product quality consistency. Meanwhile, its low vapor pressure also minimizes material evaporation, reducing contamination to the process environment and maintaining high cleanliness levels.
Tungsten crucible is widely used in sapphire crystal growth, semiconductor crystal growth, photovoltaic monocrystalline silicon melting, electron beam evaporation, vacuum coating, rare earth smelting, refractory metal melting, quartz glass melting, ceramic sintering, high-temperature material research, aerospace superalloy melting, and nuclear material experiments.
Tungsten crucible is mainly classified into sintered tungsten crucible, forged tungsten crucible, spun tungsten crucible, stamped tungsten crucible, welded tungsten crucible, and machined tungsten crucible. Each manufacturing method differs in material density, dimensional accuracy, high-temperature performance, and application suitability. Sintered tungsten crucible is suitable for conventional high-temperature use; forged and spun tungsten crucible offer higher density and superior creep resistance; welded and stamped tungsten crucible are ideal for complex structures and batch production; machined tungsten crucible is suitable for high-precision, small-size applications.
Common structural forms of tungsten crucible are cylindrical, tapered, thick-bottomed, and covered or uncovered designs, adapted to different temperature distributions, loading conditions, and service life requirements.
Tungsten crucible is typically a customized non-standard product. Dimensions, wall thickness, purity grade, and manufacturing method should be optimized according to specific equipment conditions and thermal field design. CTIA GROUP has over 30 years of experience in tungsten crucible manufacturing, providing targeted design optimization and integrated solutions from material selection and structural design to precision machining.
