What's Vacuum Evaporation Tungsten Boat?
What’s Vacuum Evaporation Tungsten Boat?
Vacuum evaporation tungsten boat, also known as tungsten evaporation boat or tungsten boat, is a high-purity boat-shaped resistive heating element used in vacuum coating processes. It is manufactured from high-purity tungsten sheets through stamping, bending, or welding to form a boat-shaped structure. The central recess holds the evaporation material, while both ends extend as electrode connection zones for electrical heating. As an evaporation source component, the tungsten boat converts energy into heat and vaporizes the material during thin-film deposition.
Working Principle of Vacuum Evaporation Tungsten Boat
When powered, the tungsten boat rapidly heats through resistance, melting and vaporizing the metal material inside the recess. In a high-vacuum environment, the evaporated particles migrate linearly and deposit on the substrate surface, forming a uniform functional thin film.
Features of CTIA’s Vacuum Evaporation Tungsten Boat
The performance is determined by the properties of tungsten:
(1) High melting point (~3,422°C) ensures structural stability under high temperatures.
(2) High density (>19.1 g/cm³) and extremely low vapor pressure minimize self-evaporation and reduce thin-film contamination.
(3) Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, combined with a low coefficient of thermal expansion, maintains heating efficiency and structural integrity during thermal cycles.
Applications of CTIA’s Vacuum Evaporation Tungsten Boat
CTIA’s tungsten boat has wide applications in: (1) semiconductor metalization coating, (2) led device electrode fabrication, (3) solar cell thin-film deposition, (4) optical coating for anti-reflective and reflective layers, (5) vacuum metallurgy and metal purification, (6) material evaporation experiments and research.
