Tungsten Electrode in Electron Gun Cathode
Tungsten electrodes are key thermionic emission materials used in electron gun cathode systems. They are widely applied in Electron Beam Welding (EBW), electron beam evaporation coating, X-ray equipment, electron microscopes, vacuum electronic devices, and scientific research instruments. In high-vacuum environments, tungsten electrodes serve as cathode emission sources, continuously releasing electrons to support electron beam generation and stable transmission. Their performance directly affects beam stability, focusing accuracy, and service life. Because electron gun systems require excellent electron emission stability, long cathode life, and outstanding high-temperature performance, high-purity tungsten and tungsten-based cathode material systems are commonly used.

1.Working Principle of Tungsten Electrode in Electron Gun Cathodes
Tungsten electrodes used as electron gun cathodes operate based on the principle of thermionic emission. When heated to high temperatures, the tungsten electrode emits electrons. In a high-vacuum environment, these electrons undergo minimal scattering and are accelerated and focused by electric fields to generate a high-energy electron beam for electron beam welding, thin-film deposition, material processing, inspection, and vacuum electronic devices. Tungsten has a melting point above 3410°C and a work function of approximately 4.5 eV. It offers excellent high-temperature stability and a low evaporation rate, enabling stable electron emission over extended operating periods.
