What's Spot Welding Tungsten Electrode?
1. What's Spot Welding Tungsten Electrode?
Spot welding tungsten electrode is a high-performance, non-consumable electrode material used in the resistance spot welding process. It is typically manufactured from high-purity tungsten (W≥99.9%) or tungsten-based composite material via powder metallurgy process. During welding, the electrode does not melt. Instead, it concentrates electrical energy onto the welding contact point through high current density and pressure, generating instantaneous high temperatures to achieve a metallurgical bond between metals.
Compared to traditional copper electrode, tungsten electrode features a higher melting point (approx. 3422°C), a lower coefficient of thermal expansion, and stronger resistance to high-temperature softening. Consequently, it is better suited for high-precision, high-frequency, and micro-spot welding applications.

2. Working Principle of CTIA's Spot Welding Tungsten Electrode
In the resistance spot welding process, spot welding tungsten electrode serves as a conductive and pressurizing tool. As the current passes through the contact interface, it generates Joule heat, causing the local metal to heat up rapidly, melt, and form a weld nugget. Thanks to its high melting point and exceptional stability, tungsten electrode maintains a stable tip morphology under high current density, enabling precise connection with low spatter and high consistency.
3. Features of CTIA's Spot Welding Tungsten Electrode
CTIA’s spot welding tungsten electrode has the following characteristics: (1) strong high-temperature stability with low risk of softening or deformation;(2) high current carrying capacity with excellent energy concentration;(3) strong resistance to arc erosion and low wear rate;(4) stable tip geometry with extended service life.
